Emmanuel Taylor will be a heavy underdog in his upcoming fight against Adrien Broner on Sept. 6 at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, but the light welterweight contender believes that he has the tools to score an upset.

Taylor, who holds an 18-2 record with 12 knockouts, said in an interview that he saw Broner's fight against Marcos Maidana, and he saw a lot of weaknesses.

In their upcoming showdown, the 23-year-old said that he will exploit Broner's weaknesses and stick to his camp's own fight plan to put a lot of pressure on the former three-division champion's shoulders.

"I saw his fight against Maidana, and I saw a lot of weaknesses there," Taylor said of the Broner-Maidana fight where Broner took the first defeat of his career. "But that's not the only way he can be beaten. I definitely can take advantages of his weaknesses but I have some other plans for fighting this guy."

Taylor knows that most analysts are already counting him out, but he vowed to prove that he belongs on the same level as Broner, saying that the upcoming fight--which, he said, will be the biggest of his career--will be a great opportunity to make a statement.

"I'm definitely looking to make a statement." Taylor said. "This is the biggest fight of my career. This is what I've been working for my whole life since I was a little kid. It's my time to make a statement."

The Arsenal, Maryland, native admitted, however, that scoring a win against Broner is easier said than done, considering the fact that the fight will be in Cincinnati, Broner's hometown.

"We just have to go in there and do what we have to do to get a win," Taylor said. "I have to beat him really bad to get the win, I know that. I know we're going up against the odds fighting him in his hometown. I'm going to go in there and fight my fight. That's what we train hard for."
