"Bones" will be filled with interesting twists and new plots and characters when Season 10 of the long running series kicks off this fall.

Starting next month, the new season will pick up right where Season 9 left off. In the blowout finale, Booth and Brennan's home was destroyed in a hail of gunfire while Booth was framed and ended up being falsely arrested for murdering three federal agents.

Season 10 will start four months later with Booth still in prison and Brennan stressing over how she will get him out.

Although that will be the focus of the season premiere, "Bones" executive producer Stephen Nathan revealed that Booth will also face an outside challenge from a new character in the FBI played by "24" star John Boyd.

"He will alter how Booth does his job, and Booth and Sweets will confront him," Nathan told TV Guide.

In addition, the EP also teased that Cam and Arastoo will reach new milestones in their romance.

"They will hit those challenges that every relationship hits as they get closer and closer," Nathan says.

In a recently released a video preview of the upcoming season, USA TODAY's TV critic Robert Bianco dropped spoilers about one of "Bones'" "better episodes of the season."

In the episode, the death of a female CIA agent raises issues about women in Afghanistan, American politics and "the way educated women are treated in both countries," says Bianco.

He added that Booth and Bones will have a running argument about insurance that will take an interesting turn.

Actress Emily Deschanel also spilled a few teasers about the upcoming season, telling BuddyTV that while Brennan fights to clear Booth's name, "he's not always happy about the way Brennan is doing things to help him."

The actress went on to emphasize the toll that Booth's imprisonment will have on her character.

"It's really stressful. She's on her own with her child, her husband is in prison," said Deschanel.

Plus, not only is he in prison, but his life is in danger.

"Nobody likes an FBI agent in prison, [not] even the guards. And it's not safe for him," she said.

Deschanel revealed that Booth will eventually be released, however "It's not necessarily going to be flowers when he arrives back."

"Bones" Season 10 premieres Thursday, Sept. 25, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX.
