Two men accused of killing a 1-year-old child in Brooklyn last weekend were caught Friday in Wilkes-Barre, Penn., police said.

Daquan Wright, 19, and Daquan Breland, 23, were arrested early in the morning and taken into custody. Detectives, US Marshals, and Wilkes-Barre police combined forces in the effort to arrest the men.

"Upon making entry, both subjects were identified and taken into custody without incident," US Marshal Martin J. Pane said.

Authorities were drawn to Wilkes-Barre because the alleged killers knew someone who lived in the Sherman Hills Apartment complex, located about 130 miles away from the Brownsville area of Brooklyn where 19-month-old Tariq Hennis was shot and killed while sitting in his stroller.

Wright shot little Tariq when he was targeting the boy's father, Anthony Hennis, who was pushing the stroller across the street. Hennis, who has a history of legal issues, has not cooperated with police in the investigation. Previous reports said that the shooting may have been gang-related and possibly related to an issue between Anthony Hennis and one of the shooters. The neighborhood seemed confident that they knew who the shooter was all along.

"We know exactly who the shooter is," Tony Herbert said to the New York Post a few days ago. "It was a beef between the shooter's brother and the baby's father."

According to the New York Times, authorities say Wright handed a gun to Breland, who proceeded to shoot four bullets. Three of the bullets missed, while one fatal shot struck the baby in the head.

Cops say Breland was on parole for assault in connection to a 2009 shooting in upstate, New York, and had been released from prison last year.

"All I can say is it's very hard," the boy's grandfather told the NY Post. "He was a real joy. He always wanted to play."
