Super Smash Bros. 4 for 3DS & Wii U Leaked Character Roster: Before Nintendo's Release, Youtube Screenshots Show Shulk, Bowser Jr. and Ganondorf [Viideo]
The internet is the best friend of people looking for rumors and spoilers about video games.
According to Polygon, there was an anonymous poster on 4chan last week that published what were purported to be leaked screenshots of the "Super Smash Bros." version intended for the Nintendo 3DS.
The screenshot showed the menu screen for the selection of characters, with many of those shown being characters that Nintendo has not officially announced yet.
On Monday, videos showing what could be the game running on 3DS were uploaded to YouTube. The videos showed Shulk and Bowser Jr. There was also a shot showing Shulk fighting Ganondorf, who is a villain in the Legend of Zelda, another unannounced character.
Nintendo is having a difficult time containing these leaks as new videos and images keep cropping up almost daily.
The leaked images last week showed some characters that gamers were not expecting, such as Shulk from "Xenogears," Bowser Jr. from the "Super Mario Bros." series and the dog from "Duck Hunt."
Other characters shown were Ness from "Earthbound" and Dr. Mario, two characters that are fan favorites. These two characters are also not yet confirmed by Nintendo.
These leaks might be a result of the company's attempt to sporadically dole out information on the "Super Smash Bros." characters, which doesn't seem to appease the fan base. Most of the official announcements have been done via the online streams from Nintendo Direct.
Some think that the leaked images might be Photoshopped images, since there are many coming out which are supposed to be leaks, yet many of them do not agree with each other.
Sharp-eyed fans saw that the YouTube account was named Izat True, which did not have any other activity except for the five videos it posted.
According to Kotaku, what interested fans was the username, ESRB0083, which had them speculating that it might be footage intended for the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB), the agency that gives the game ratings in the United States.
The "Super Smash Bros." 3DS version comes out on Oct. 3 while the one for Wii U will be released towards the holiday season.
