'Minecraft' for PS4 & Xbox One Release Date, Price: 'Doctor Who' Skins Coming to Xbox 360
"Minecraft" players up until now may have had the freedom to build a phone booth, but that was about as close as they could get to officially recreating 'Doctor Who.'
Soon players will be able to buy a skin pack featuring several characters from the wildly popular British television program to use in the Xbox 360 version of the game, according to a report from Polygon.
One of the game's developers, Mojang, reached an agreement with Microsoft and BBC Worldwide to bring multiple Doctor Who-themed avatars to the game, which will come out after episodes of the upcoming Series 8.
The initial Doctor Who skin pack will cost users $2.99 and will feature a character inspired by the Twelfth Doctor, five other doctors, their companions and the villainous Daleks. The skin packs that follow will all include at least six doctors and will add characters featured throughout the history of the show.
Neither Mojang nor its partners have announced a specific release date for the first skin pack and it's not clear if these packs will be made available on other platform versions of the game.
In other Minecraft news, less than a week after Sony rejected the latest version of "Minecraft," the game's developers evidently have fixed the bugs and resubmitted the game to Sony for certification ahead of a public release.
Developer 4J Studios tweeted Tuesday morning "#Minecraft is back with Sony for final testing. Fingers crossed...," according to Game Zone.
The PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and Xbox One versions of the popular open-world game were all supposed to be released in August, but with the extra work that has gone into them, it appears a September release is more likely.
No word has been given on the specific statuses of the PlayStation Vita and Xbox One versions, but they are thought to be on a similar track as the PS4 version.
