Over the weekend, Lupillo Rivera found himself in the hospital.

The news came from his wife, Mayeli Rivera, through social media.

"I never do things like this, but today it's important that I ask you to ask God for help for the quick recovery of my husband, Lupillo Rivera, who today, unfortunately, was hospitalized because of severe respiratory problems," she said. "I can't give you any details, but I know that he will be fine."

With the message, Mayeli also shared a picture of Lupillo on a hospital bed. His eyes are closed, and he is wearing an oxygen mask.

More than 3,000 people liked the image, and many wrote kind words to the couple.

The same day she shared an update for his fans.

"For all the people worried about my husband, thanks to God everything is better. We'll be leaving the hospital and we are going to see a specialist today. He needs 100 percent rest for a few days," she said.

Mayeli didn't say how long he was in the hospital or give any more details about his health.

Lupillo continues to be in the news because of disagreements with his family. One of his biggest problems with his brothers is that they speak about his ex-wife.

"Through social media, they like to post pictures of my ex-wife Maria, something that makes my actual wife, Mayeli, very uncomfortable," he said.

He denied not talking to his mother, but he does appear to have distanced himself from more than just his brothers. He recently explained that he does not care to root for his niece, Chiquis Rivera. He even said that the aspiring singer was nothing special.

"She's just another artist, and she's no one special as an artist for me," he said. "She's just another person that is trying to fight and we wish her the best. For me, she's a common and current artist."
