Bayonetta 2 Release Date & Trailer: Female Heroines Return in Sega Classic for Wii U Exclusive [Video]
Gamers around the world are in for a treat with the announced release of "Bayonetta 2" for Wii U on Sept. 20 in Japan. It will become available in North America by Oct. 24.
"Bayonetta 2," which is developed by Platinum Games and published for Wii U by Nintendo, is a franchise owned by Sega. "Bayonetta 2" is the direct sequel to the game released in 2009 and is directed by Yusuke Hashimoto.
The game will be exclusively released for Wii U. Bayonetta, the titular character, will be sporting a new hairstyle and costume and will have a two-player mode, which is a new feature. "Bayonetta 2" will have a port of the original game included in the game case but will come as a separate disc, GameSpot reports.
The game plot starts with Bayonetta and Jeanne fighting off a group of angels that suddenly attack during a city parade. Bayonetta was saved by Jeanne from a demon summon that had gone wrong. Jeanne's soul was claimed by the depths of Hell and Enzo tells Bayonetta that she can find the entrance to the Inferno at the Fimbulvintr, a sacred mountain. Bayonetta will venture inside the Gates of Hell to save Jeanne.
She will receive a new set of guns from Rodin and will meet Loki in Purgatorio once she's inside the mountain. He will strike a deal with her since she will need his powers. Luka also arrives at Noatun, the city where the mountain is located, and will try to find additional information that could help Bayonetta.
The original trailer for "Bayonetta 2" was shown way back in 2012. The latest trailer for the game was presented during the E3 Digital Event in 2014. For the first time, the footage of Inferno was shown. It also showed Loki and Bayonetta getting sucked through the Gates of Hell. There were some demons that were shown, including mechanical ones as well as Phantasmaraneae. The trailer also hinted at a time limit to Jeanne's soul remaining in the Inferno. The game is shown to have Tag Climax as well, an online co-op mode.
