Police have apprehended a man who allegedly held up a Southwest Chicago bank and is suspected in 13 other robberies. Authorities said this man, nicknamed the "No Boundaries Bandit" by the FBI was arrested Sunday by Cicero police.

Rodrigo Medellin, the man suspected, was charged with bank robbery in federal court for his involvement in a theft at a Washington Federal Bank on June 11. The No Boundaries Bandit was last rumored to be part of a heist at a PNC Bank in Berwyn on Aug. 28.

The bandit's summer-long spree started on May 16 with a robbery of a different PNC Bank, according to the FBI.

The incident on June 11, which Medellin is in custody for, the robber entered the bank a passed a note to the teller reading "I have a fully loaded weapon. Want all cash from drawer. Don't put in any dye-packs. I know what they look like." The teller then gave the bandit $4,160.

Over the following weeks, the No Boundaries Bandit robbed eight banks in different locations. He earned the nickname from investigators since he robbed so many different places.

On July 31, a man was arrested for an unrelated state charge. During his interview with authorities, he told officers that Medellin had bragged to him about robbing banks. According to the criminal complaint against Medellin, the man then identified the 31-year-old in surveillance photos from a few of the robberies over recent months.

A parole officer then identified Medellin in photos at the time of the crime, whom he knew since Medellin is on parole from a 2009 burglary case. After news reports were shown of a robbing at a Chase Bank in Northlake, one of Medellin's family member reported that he knew the man behind the thefts.

Police caught up with Medellin on Aug. 31, arresting him around 3p.m. after chasing him in his vehicle and on foot. He was found carrying a loaded Tec 9 with him at the time.

Medellin appeared in Maywood Branch Court on Tuesday and was ordered held in lieu of $1 million.
