Simone Battle 'X Factor' Contestant Dead: G.R.L. 'Ugly Heart' Singer Found Hanging in Closet, Suicide Motive Unknown [Video]
Simone Battle, the "X Factor" contestant and member of the girl group G.R.L., has reportedly committed suicide in her home in Los Angles. According to TMZ, her body was found at around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, hanging from a rod in the closet of her bedroom. No autopsy has been completed since then and authorities have not mentioned any note that could give an explanation.
The singer started to become famous in 2011 when she made it to the Top 17 position before getting eliminated from the U.S. version of the television music competition "X Factor." After an attempt to launch a solo career for herself, Battle joined what almost became the new Pussycat Dolls, which eventually evolved into the girl band G.R.L. in 2012. The band released the catchy song "Ugly Heart" early last summer that later went on became a hit globally. The group caught attention first when the girls sang the chorus in the hit song by Pitbull, "Wild Wild Love."
In an official statement, Battle's record label Reign Deer Entertainment, Kemosabi Records, Robin Antin and RCA records all shared how they are deeply saddened by the loss of the exceptional young talent. Other members of her band G.R.L. also expressed their sadness over the news on their official Twitter account, saying that the only thing that surpassed Simone's incredible talent was the size of her heart.
While reports mention that the singer committed suicide as evidenced by the discovery in her West Hollywood apartment, the cause of her death is currently officially listed as unknown. However, the press release on Saturday had established that she had died at 25. Reports that the police received from sources suggested that Simone Battle had in fact committed suicide.
Thoughts and prayers from her friends, family and fans are all with her now.
