The highly anticipated announcement regarding the iPhone 5S and 5C occurred yesterday, as Apple announced both new models will be on shelves Sept. 18. While the 5C is a cheaper iPhone made of recycled parts, the iPhone 5S is considered the upgrade from the iPhone 5.

But is investing in the iPhone 5S worth it? According to some, it's no, since the 5S may be the least innovative iPhone model to date.

According to CNET's Rick Broida, there is little to be excited about regarding the 5S, which he says is basically the iPhone 5 with a few minor changes.

One of Broida's main issues with the 5S was the screen. "The iPhone 5S has the same screen dimensions as the iPhone 5, which is merely half an inch taller than my iPhone 4S," he writes. I'm afraid that's a big no-sale for me."

Broida also expressed disappointment in the lack of improvement in the 5S battery life, which is partly due its faster processor. "I don't need or want a faster processor in my phone, and I suspect the same is true for 98 percent of all users," he writes. "What I do need is a bigger, better battery. The iPhone 5S doesn't have one."

Adrian Kingsley-Hughes of ZDNet writes that the 5S may be an upgrade, but overall it's nothing special. "The iPhone 5s is nice, but there's nothing groundbreaking there (barring perhaps the fingerprint sensor)," he writes. "What you get here is a refinement of what was on the iPhone 5. If you want revolutionary you'll have to wait until next year."

Both Broida and Kingsley-Hughes were also disappointed at the fact that there is still no 128GB version of the iPhone.

One thing that most people like about the 5S is the fingerprint sensor, which provides a much faster and more convenient way of unlocking the iPhone. Another big change for the 5S is that it comes in new colors, including gold, silver and grey.
