When it seemed all was going well for Esmeralda and Pablo, his mother decided to interfere. Pablo proposed to Esmeralda, but his mother framed him so that he had to leave the country. (Catch up on episode 6-10 here.)
Here's what happens in episodes 11-15:
Episode 11: Pablo's parents send him to the United States to study, so that he can be far away from Esmeralda. Fernando de la Santa Cruz, or El Silencioso, is about to be released from jail, and all he wants is to prove that he was innocent. Pablo's parents find out, and they feel that when Fernando is free, it'll be a matter of life or death for them. Pablo sends Esmeralda a letter, saying that he's borrowing money so that the two can be reunited.
Episode 12: Lorenza questions Agustin over his plans with Esmeralda, but he refuses to tell her. The men that have been hired by Agustin take Esmeralda from her home and kidnap her. Damian sees them and talks to them, but he doesn't know that they have taken and hidden Esmeralda. When he asks for explanations as to why they are there, they threaten him, and Damian decides to drop it.
When Esmerelda is freed, she goes to look for Agustin. She apologizes for bothering him, but she tells him that she hasn't heard anything on Pablo for a month. He tells her that his son talks to them daily, and if he isn't writing her letters, it's because he's forgotten about her. Esmeralda feels bad, and she goes to the doctor, where she finds out she is pregnant.
Episode 13: Damian tells Agustin that Esmeralda is pregnant with Pablo's child. Centavito tells Esmeralda that Pablo does love her, and that his parents have been interfering in their relationship. Mariano, on the other hand, goes on Pablo's behalf and tells Esmeralda to forget about Pablo. He said that Pablo and his family never want to hear from her again. Mariano later feels remorse for what he has done. Mariano then tells Pablo that Esmeralda has found a new love, so Pablo wants to return.
Agustin once again meddles. He writes a letter where he pretends to be Esmeralda. When Pablo receives the fake letter from Esmeralda, he cries. Mariano wants to get Pablo back, so that he can know that Esmeralda is pregnant. Pablo, despite feeling hurt, asks his father to pay for his travel so that Esmeralda can tell him face to face that it's over.
Rita accidentally reveals to Esmeralda that she is pregnant, so she runs to ask La Jarocha, who confirms the news. Esmeralda believes that now nothing can stand in the way of her and Pablo. Esmeralda goes to Lorenza and tells her she is expecting Pablo's child, because she thinks it will make Lorenza treat her better. Lorenza only insults her, but Esmeralda says she has rights as Pablo's wife. She shows Lorenza her marriage certificate.
Episode 14: Lorenza rips the certificate and tells Esmeralda to leave. El Silencioso tells Damian that he can pay his fee to get him out of jail, but he'll only do it in exchange for a service. He's going to need people by his side, so that he can seek vengeance. Esmeralda finds work at a furniture factory. Rita tells Esmeralda that Pablo is returning, but she says that she doesn't want to see him.
When Pablo goes to look for her, Rita tells him that she's gone to live in Tijuana, and that she's happy and pregnant with another man. His parents manage to persuade Pablo that the baby is not his. Months pass, and Esmeralda continues working for her child. An accident at work leaves her unconscious.
Episode 15: Esmeralda is taken to the hospital. Mariano gives his parents Pablo and Esmeralda's marriage certificate, so Agustin annuls the marriage. El Silencioso wants to find his daughter, which he knows will be difficult. But he decides to start off with Rita, who took care of her. Esmeralda finds out that she will have twins.
