Two men from Washington, D.C., were indicted on charges of beating, chaining, mutilating and abandoning a pitbull terrier. The indictment on Tuesday also said that one of the men allegedly used the animal in a dog fight.

The two men, 29-year-olds Christopher Johnson and Mark Mosley, were charged by a grand jury for cruelty to animals and abandonment of a maimed animal. Johnson was charged to animal fighting additionally.

The pitbull terrier, named McFly, was suffering critical injuries from the fight and subsequent abuse, according to the Washington Humane Society. The male dog had bites all over his body and three large lacerations that appeared to be caused from someone attempting to slit its throat. The humane society also said McFly has since recovered from his wounds and has been adopted by a family.

According to the indictment, these crimes took place on Oct. 2, 2013. The humane society later received a call reporting a bull terrier was injured from a dogfight. In a press release from the humane society, officers reportedly found the dog a day later in nearby woods.

In an equally cruel case, a Michigan man was arrested Monday for allowing his 4-year-old grandson to throw a puppy into the street. A neighbor, Karl Collyer, concerned by what he saw, recorded and uploaded video of Kevin Stange's grandson repeatedly throw the dog onto the pavement.

Stange was questioned and charged with animal cruelty after the footage of the little Labrador pup being tossed over and over surfaced online. Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell saw the video, which quickly prompted an investigation.

"I just couldn't believe my eyes," Pickell said to WSFB. "We can't allow a little puppy to be treated like that. He also has two more dogs."

The puppy, Tippy, has been removed from the household and will be put up for adoption.
