'Criminal Minds' Season 10 Spoilers: New Villain and 'Dawson's Creek' Actor Kerr Smith Will Appear in New Season
In addition to Jennifer Love Hewitt, a new villain and another star from a 90's sitcom will also make their debut on "Criminal Minds" when the long-running series kicks off its tenth season on CBS next month.
In the build up to the new season, executive producer Erica Messer dropped a few spoilers about a villain that will be introduced at the end of the premiere.
"You see that there is a bigger thing going on. It'll be a big case we touch on again midway through the season," she told TV Guide, adding that the show writers still have not gave that person a nickname yet. "We have our own little shortcut in the [writers'] room, but we haven't landed on anything yet to put out there," she said.
In the meantime, "Dawson's Creek" actor Kerr Smith will also guest star in the first episode of Season 10 as Frank Cowles, a person who has a sexual fetish on amputated limbs and amputees, reports Christian Today.
Entertainment Weekly also reports that Jennifer Love Hewitt will play Kate Callahan, a "seasoned undercover agent whose stellar work at the FBI has landed her a coveted position with the Behavioral Analysis Unit."
According to a press release, Hewitt will make her debut in the first episode when she helps the BAU team solve a case involving a series of murders in Bakersfield, California, reports the Hollywood Hills.
In an interview with TV Guide, Messer described Hewitt's character as an eight-year FBI agent who is "smart, charming, and wise for her years."
"Her background is criminal psychology, and her passion comes from wanting to make the world a safe place. She's had a lot of personal loss that makes her a patriot and a nurturing figure to those in her personal and work families," the EP said.
The season premiere of "Criminal Minds" airs on Wednesday, Oct. 1, on CBS.
