iPhone 5S/ 5C Release Date, Price and Features: Walmart Offers New Apple Phone for $79
The iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c will be available at Walmart for discounted prices, reports the Apple Insider.
Walmart is offering the iPhone 5s 16GB model with a $10 discount off its normal retail price. The iPhone 5c 16GB model will also be offered with a much bigger discount at $79.
The retail price for the iPhone 5s indicated in Apple's website starts at $199 for the 16GB model, $299 for the 32GB model and $399 for the 64GB model. These prices are tied with a wireless service plan from any of the three carriers: AT&T, Sprint and Verizon.
However, Walmart will be offering the same handset with a new 2-year contract with any of the three carriers AT&T, Sprint or Verizon for only $189 (16GB model).
As for the iPhone 5c, retail price starts at $99 for the 16GB model and $199 for the 32GB model. Like the iPhone 5s, the handset comes tied with a wireless service plan from any of the three carriers. Walmart is offering the same 16GB model of the iPhone 5c for only $79.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 5c will start online on September 13, Friday, at 3:00 am Eastern Time. However, pre-orders for the discounted $79 handset should be made at a physical Walmart location. Pre-orders are done on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-ordered iPhone 5c's from Walmart should also be picked up from the store by September 25.
Notably, Walmart will also be offering a new trade-in program by September 21. The program offers customers $50 to $300 in-store credits in exchange for over 100 smartphone models. Customers may then use the credits to purchase new phones from AT&T, Verizon, Sprint or the store's very own prepaid wireless service plan.
Older iPhone models will also be offered at Walmart with much greater discounts compared to the latest ones. The iPhone 5 will be offered at $79 while the iPhone 4S will be tagged at $0.97. Buyers of the iPhone 4 will only have to shell out $0.10 and will receive a Walmart Gift Card worth $100 along with the purchase.
