The 2013 NFL season has finally kicked off, and the games keep on getting better. Last night, the New England Patriots faced the New York Jets in a tight match that left last year's Superbowl runners up with a win, 13-10.

Thursday Night Football was as exciting as expected, but it did deliver a good match between the Giants and the Pats. The match seemed to started taking pace when Tom Brady threw a 39-yard touchdown to Aaron Dobson, ending the first quarter at 10-3 in favor of the Patriots.

But all excitement died down when the teams played a sloppy three quarters. According to NFL.com, the Pats' rookie line-up caused them a more decisive game. With wide receiver Danny Amendola, tight end Rob Gronkowski and running back Shane Vereen sidelined, Brady was left with three rookie receivers and had a hard time completing passes.

Rain also plagued the second half that saw only one TD per team.

"We have a long way to go," Brady noted, reports NFL.com. "No one is coming to [our] rescue and save the day, so we've just got to fight through it."

The Jets also had a dismal performance with only one touchdown the entire game, thanks to Bilal Powell.

Geno Smith led the Jets with 214 yards and 3 interceptions.

"Geno had his (good) moments," Rex Ryan, coach of the Jets, said. "I don't know how many balls we dropped today, but it was a bunch."

The New York Jets, which slipped to 1-1, will be facing the Buffalo Bills next Sunday (Sept. 22) at home, while the New England Patriots (2-0) will be up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at home, also on Sept. 22.
