Reggaeton singer Don Omar has been arrested in his native Puerto Rico.

The artist was allegedly arrested for domestic abuse on Wednesday after his 26-year-old partner reported the incident, which happened at about 1 a.m.

He supposedly threatened the woman, whose name has not been revealed.

Omar, whose real name is William Omar Landrón, was transferred to the Bayamón headquarters for further investigation.

Lt. Aimee Alvaro, director of the domestic violence division in that area, said that the singer is being investigation on a possible pattern of abuse and not just what happened on Wednesday morning.

"There are incidents reported from different dates, with different situations," said Alvarado. "Our investigation is covering some earlier situation, manifesting in earlier dates."

Don Omar has been in a relationship with the woman for at least a year. While he awaits charges, Don Omar will continue to be held.

Reports say that when he arrived at Bayamón at 8 a.m., he was calm. He was wearing a gray longsleeve shirt. He also didn't make any comments to the press.

The 26-year-old woman was also interviewed by police this morning.

Don Omar has received messages of support on his Facebook page.

"What sad news," a commenter said. "God will protect [you]. I don't know if it's true or not, but things are resolved by talking. Good luck and may god continue to bless you."

Another said, "Praying for you... hope it's not true."

One Facebook user questioned the authenticity of the report, which said he was arrested in the middle of the night because the picture shared was taken in the daytime. The image she is referring might be the one where he is being transferred to Bayamón later in the day.
