Madden 25 had a rough beginning, from technical issues online to a collective belief that the game failed to live up to its anniversary edition hype. But now that the dust has settled, it looks like gamers (at least on Xbox 360 and PS3) are getting used to it before the launch of the PS4 and Xbox One.

Gamers are not always so keen with change, so it probably just took some time to get used the new game. By this point, Madden fans are enjoying the special features such as the Connected Franchise mode, which allows users to control a player, coach, or owner, or all of the above. The evolution of the game's franchise mode is indeed a reflection of the progress we've seen in the quarter century of playing Madden games.

Lou Kesten said in a game review for the Associated Press that he also enjoyed the Ultimate Team mode, which is apparently a "cross between fantasy football and card collecting."

Kesten is impressed with the game but also makes some points about the flaws, which thankfully do not seem to pertain to the actual gameplay. "There are other nits to pick, like repetitious animations between plays and the annoying in-game ads," he said.

With only small flaws, it comes as no surprise that the IGN website rated Madden 25 with an 8.5 score, calling it "great."

"Madden NFL 25 focuses more on football than presentation," Jack Devries said in his review for IGN. "It's beautiful and plays great, but lacks some personality."

The PS4 will hit the shelves Nov. 15 while the Xbox One will be released on Nov. 22.
