On Wednesday, Charlie Sheen, star of the FX's "Anger Management" appeared on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" where he discussed rumors that actress Selma Blair was fired from the series after a harsh text from Sheen himself.

Blair, who played Sheen's love interest on "Anger Management," was dismissed from the show in June. The news was announced a day after TMZ reported that Sheen demanded Blair be fired because he belived she was complaining about his work ethic behind his back. According to the tabloid web site, Sheen threatened to quit if Blair was not fired.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that Sheen, who is also an executive producer of "Anger Management," sent a text message to Blair, firing the actress and calling her a "c---."

On the same day Studio Lionsgate Television announced Blair's dismissal, Blair, 41, posted a gratuitous tweet on her Twitter account.

"I thank you for support and love," Blair tweeted.

Sheen, 48, addressed the rumors regarding Blair's removal during a chat with Leno.

"One of our primary characters, Selma Blair, who played Kate, was written out because [the show] was not about our relationship, and the problem was too many people were still excited about the 'Two and a Half [Men'] character and thought the 'Anger Management' character was a little dull," Sheen said.

According to Sheen, who was fired from CBS' "Two and a Half Men" in 2011 after attacking creator Chuck Lorre on the Internet, the move was not an attack on Blair but rather an attempt to revamp the show.

"So, um, that is not the case anymore," Sheen said. "Her character leaves, and I start circling the drain. So it's really fun to watch and hella fun to play."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Anger Management" films twice a week and Sheen often has over 40 pages of dialogue per script.

The web site also said that "Anger Management" has disappointed FX with its ratings. The show underwent a month long hiatus to reformat its elements. "Anger Management" has 60 episodes left to produce out of its 90-episode order. According to The Hollywood Reporter's sources, production will continue as planned and a new female character will replace that of Blair's.

FX's "Anger Management" airs at 9:30 p.m. on Thursdays. NBC's "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" airs every weeknight at 11:35 p.m.
