Dina Lohan, mother of troubled actress Lindsay Lohan, was arrested for drunk driving last night.

According to a tabloid web site Dina, 50, was arrested while driving in Long Island, N.Y. Dina was driving on the Northern State Parkway in a white BMW when police spotted her at 11 p.m. Thursday night. Police alleged that she was driving at 77 mph in a 55 mph zone.

After stopping her, police noticed that Dina seemed intoxicated. After testing her, they found the mother's blood alcohol content to be at .20. That is more than twice the legal limit of .08.

"Lohan made an allegation that she was injured during the course of the arrest," a police press release said.

Medical personnel were then summoned to the scene and determined that Dina suffered no injuries. Afterwards, Dina "recanted her claim," the press release said.

Dina was charged with two counts of driving while intoxicated and one count of speeding. She was brought to a nearby police station in Farmingdale, N.Y. where she took a mug shot. In the photo, the mother bares her teeth slightly and wears pearl earrings.

Dina was then reportedly released to a sober third party. It has not been determined who exactly retrieved Dina, but TMZ reports that it was not her daughter, Lindsay. Lindsay apparently did not know Dina was arrested until the news reported it today.

The arrest was confirmed by a police press release obtained by media sources earlier today.

Dina will appear in Nassau County 1st District court for the incident on Sept. 24.

Recently, Dina and her ex-husband, Michael Lohan, 53, appeared on CBS Television Distribution's talk show "The Test," hosted by comedian Kirk Fox. During the show, Michael repeatedly told Dina that she needs to check herself into a rehab facility for drug and alcohol abuse.

Dina denied all of Michael's claim, yet refused to take a lie detector or drug test.

"She drank every day," Michael alleged on "The Test." "She was abusing herself by drinking and doing cocaine. With my daughter."

Daughter Lindsay, 27, finished a court-ordered stay in rehab less than two months ago. The Mean Girls star was in rehab for three months. The court ordering was a part of a plea deal Lindsay made for a June 2012 traffic case. Lindsay pleaded no contest to lying to police and reckless driving.

It would appear that rehab may not be the worst idea for this troubled mother.
