PopCap has finally released its acclaimed video game Plants vs Zombies 2 to Android users, but there's one catch: it's only available in China.

One of the most successful mobile game franchises, PvZ2 was initially released only for the iOS earlier this year, leaving many Android users unsatisfied. However, it seems that PopCap has been working on double time to serve the eager non-Apple users that want to play the game.

Just a few days ago, developers finally released the Android version of the game. Notably though, the game is only available for download in China.

PopCap's official blog wrote:

A huge wave of zombies has landed in China! That's right: Plants vs. Zombies 2 is now available for Android in China. This means we're one step closer to bringing the Android adaptation of Plants vs. Zombies 2 to the whole world!

But why is PvZ2 Android version only available in China, while the iOS version is open for download all over the world? Well, according to Phandroid.com, the reason for this could be PopCap's servers. The game developer/ publisher could still be testing their servers to see if it can handle all Android gamers - and that's more than iOS numbers.

Droid Gamers also notes that the game isn't available for download on Google Play, but only on China's own service, Baidu.

But PopCap isn't leaving other Android users behind. In its blog post, the company revealed that PvZ2 will also be releasing the game this coming fall.

We know that everyone wants to play Plants vs. Zombies 2 as soon as possible. We want the same thing and we haven't forgotten about you. If you are an Android user and you don't live in China, the zombies will be coming for your brains later this fall, no matter where you are. It's about time!

PopCap also told fans to stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
