Sherlock Holmes 'Crimes and Punishments': Trailer Released for BBC-Inspired Game for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360 [Video]
Frogwares has just dropped a new trailer for "Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments."
The new title, which will hit stores on Sept. 30, is the seventh game for the developers who have used the characters created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. According to Load The Game, the game's developers claimed that their inspiration for the game came from the "Sherlock" series on BBC.
The trailer shows how players can succeed or fail at concluding an investigation. It was intentional, as the developer wants to show players that the outcome of the investigation is up to them.
Sherlock will make a comment and put the blame on himself when the player fails and arrests the wrong person.
The game is also structured so that the player is made to have a moral choice when finding out who the true culprit is, as well as learning the story behind the case. There will be a question of whether condemning a suspect is actually the right choice or not.
"Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments" presents a very new and different approach to the game. It is not only a linear adventure game but also a game where the outcome will depend on the skills of the players.
There are seven cases in the game but what happens as each story is unveiled depends on the actions that the player takes.
The cases are various in content, ranging from thefts to disappearances and even murders. The Unreal Engine 3 was used for the first time in this game of the series of Sherlock. According to the developers, the engine allowed them to build a game of higher quality than what they have previously done in terms of gameplay and graphics.
The new trailer clearly shows that "Crimes & Punishments" will be a blend of classic Sherlock based on the books and its modern version as serialized on TV to gain a wider audience. It will have versions for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
