PlayStation TV is finally coming to the U.S. Oct. 14 after being available in Japan since last year. The set-top box will be very similar to those offered by Google and Amazon and will cost $99.99.

The cost point for the PS-TV is very competitive with Amazon Fire TV and Google's Chromecast. Fire TV just dropped to $84 and Chromecast's price is around $35.

The thing that PS-TV has is the access to your PS3 or your PS4 as well as the capability to play portable games from the PSP, the PS Vita and even the PS One.

There are over 700 games available on PS-TV and that is what really sets it apart from its competitors.

Storage: You will only get 1 GB of internal memory in the PS-TV, but that is expandable via a memory card. You will be able to store a lot of stuff on your PS-TV set-top box, if you want to.

Bundle: Soon you will be able to buy a PS-TV with a DualShock 3 controller, an extra 8 GB memory card and "The Lego Movie Videogame for $139.99. That is a really good deal since controllers can sometimes cost up to $50 and games up to $60.

Other Entertainment: Whatever is on the PlayStation Network is likely to make it to PS-TV. That means movies, apps, games and more. You will even be able to stream games from another room if you wish to.

In Japan the device is called Vita TV. In the U.S. and Europe it will be called PlayStation TV. Europe will get the device a month after the U.S. gets it.

Sony first announced the PS-TV back in August at the Gamescom 2014 press conference. It was first referred to as coming in the fall, now we finally have a date.
