Ever since Juan Pablo Galavis failed to propose to or say "I love you" to Nikki Ferrell during the most recent season of "The Bachelor," many fans and tabloids have doubted and spread rumors about the reality stars' relationship. Now, both are opening up about the real problems they face as a couple.

In order to work on their problems, Galavis and Ferrell signed up for the VH1 reality show "Couples Therapy."

"We were approached by VH1," Ferrell explained.

"We thought it could help us solve some issues," Galavis added.

According to Boston Herald, Galavis and Ferrell enjoy watching ESPN in bed together and eating sushi. The two do not get to do that as often as they'd like, however, as Galavis works as a sports consultant in Miami, Florida, and Ferrell works as a pediatric nurse in Kansas City, Missouri.

"Long distance isn't easy," Ferrell said. "Also, there was, and still is, a spotlight on our relationship. I wasn't used to having to handle that."

Creating a relationship on a popular ABC primetime show proved to have its disadvantages for Ferrell.

"I actually deactivated my Twitter just so I wouldn't have to deal with people hiding behind their computers, talking s**t," Ferrell explained. "I feel like it's the best decision not only for myself, but for my relationship. ... I'll tell you this: Juan has much thicker skin than I do."

The couple also struggled with how to tell Camila, Galavis' five-year-old daughter, about Ferrell. Galavis didn't want his daughter to be "confused," considering Ferrell will not be around all the time.

Ferrell claims that both she and her beau are interested in having a "loving relationship that lasts forever and a happy family," but admits they have no plans to move in together yet.

"... that's not to say there won't be a change in the next six months," she added. "This isn't just a relationship between Juan and me, there are people to consider on both sides. I wouldn't move to Miami, though. I don't look cute in all that humidity."

Meanwhile, the couple will continue to rely on phone calls, text messages, "little" videos, according to Galavis, and iPhone's Facetime video chat app.

"I'm better than Nikki, but she's learning," Galavis said.

In terms of getting engaged, Ferrell said she is willing to wait "four more years" to figure things out.

"Just because we were on a TV show doesn't mean we are not a regular couple," Galavis explained. "If engagement is meant to be, it will be."

Galavis and Ferrell can be seen working on their relationship with psychotherapist Dr. Jenn Berman on "Couples Therapy" on Wednesdays at 9/8c.
