Univision Vs. Telemundo: Will Lucero Return to Rival Univision for Annual Telethon?
Lucero may be the host of the new popular singing competition "Yo Soy El Artista" on Telemundo, but the annual Telethon USA is aired on Univision.
Many had questions about whether or not the host would turn her back on the important event, but Lucero has spoken out and explained that she will always be a part of the event.
"I don't have exclusivity with anyone," she said. "I do what my heart dictates. ... The only thing I can say is that my heart will always be with those children and the centers, and hopefully there's more as the time goes by, as well as people who are joining in for such an amazing cause, of which I feel like a pioneer of."
Lucero added that even if she's not invited to return, she will always value what the telethon does. But she also understands that television networks have other things to consider.
On Sept. 28, "Yo Soy El Artista" will have its last set of audition rounds, where 3BallMTY and Los Recoditos will be special guests on the show.
So far, the show has proven to be successful. For the premiere episode, more than 3 million people tuned in, and the official hashtag #YSEA was even trending around the world.
The show brings some new elements to the world of singing competitions.
For the audition rounds, singers get less than a minute to impress a group of 100 influencers, who are made up of social media stars and other prominent Latinos. Once 51 of the influencers vote for a singer, the singers then have until the rest of the song to impress the judges. The goal is to get to Olga Tañon's artist school, where contestants will have a group of professionals transforming them into the ultimate artist.
