HBO 'True Detective' Season 2: Cast Confirmed, Filming to Start in California with Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn and Justin Lim
If you believed that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn would indeed be in the cast of "True Detective" Season 2, then you can join others in rejoicing, because the rumor was true. HBO confirmed the casting news on Tuesday, TV Line reports.
Vincent Vaughn will portray the role of Frank Semyon, a career criminal. His business partner was killed and that event will jeopardize his legitimate business. On the other hand, Colin Farrell is being cast as Ray Velcoro. His character, based on the description of the network, is that of a compromised detective. He is owned by a mobster and his masters are in the police department which is wallowing in corruption. He will be torn as to which faction he will give his allegiance to.
Before HBO made the official announcement, the confirmation of Farrell's casting was revealed by the actor himself through an interview he had with a newspaper published in Ireland.
Other actors linked to the new season are Taylor Kitsch and Elisabeth Moss. The series, which will have eight episodes, will start production this autumn in California. The first two hours of Season 2 of "True Detective" will be directed by "Fast & Furious" director Justin Lim.
The first season's amazing soundtrack was created by T Bone Burnett. There are rumors that the soundtrack for the new season will be created by either Howard Leslie Shore or by Trent Reznor, the front man for the group Nine-Inch Nails.
Nic Pizzolatto, the writer and creator of the series, has said that he is considering some lesser-known area in California for filming instead of Los Angeles. He is looking at some places that will have the specific psychosphere ambiance that resembles the location in the first season of "True Detective."
