'Yo Soy El Artista' Recap: 3Ball MTY Has the Crowd Dancing; Lucero Surprises the Audience
The last audition rounds of "Yo Soy El Artista" took place on Sunday.
The evening started off with Olga Tañon joining Lucero to welcome the rest of the judges. Tañon challenged Lucero to sing.
"Many artists have sang on this stage, but you haven't sang at all," she said.
So Lucero tore away her skirt and revealed a romper beneath her elegant look. She sang "Ya No" to kick off the show.
Contestant Anthony had to follow up the accomplished singer. He chose to sing "Así Era Ella" by Cristina Castro, and he made it through easily, impressing both judges and influencers.
Other contestants chose to sing songs by Jenni Rivera, Marco Antonio Solis and David Bisbal.
The special guests of the night were 3Ball MTY and Otto, who performed "De Las 12 a Las 12."
Lucero also made sure not to steal too much attention from the contestants. She changed into another knee-length dress.
Artist school hopeful Pablo broke records by becoming the contestant who reached 51 influencer votes the quickest. He sang with "Stay With Me" by Sam Smith. He dedicated the performance to his family in the Dominican Republic, who is going through difficult times.
Pablo cried at the end of his performance, and Luis Fonsi praised him for his song choice.
"Magic occurred," he said. "You chose the right song."
But Fonsi found his favorite contestant of the night afterward.
Puerto Rican Stefania really impressed Fonsi with her interpretation of "La De La Mala Suerte" by Jesse y Joy.
"You have a lot of personality in your voice," Fonsi said. "You've been my favorite of the night."
The next part of the competition is bound to get interesting.
On three different nights, contestants have been chosen to advance. But for the artist's school there are only 14 slots available, which means that there will be another deep cut before the hopefuls are shaped into the ultimate artist.
