Kendrick Lamar Hot New Music 2014: Compton Rapper's Latest Track 'I'm Da Man' Leaks Online [Listen]
Just a couple of days after releasing highly praised "i," another new track of Kendrick Lamar's titled, "I'm Da Man," was surfaced online on Sept. 25.
A 53-second long snippet of the Compton emcee's latest music unexpectedly appeared on fellow TDE member Ab-Soul's SoundCloud page. Accompanied by bass-heavy, explosive beat, he takes full aim at his haters.
"Yeah, I'm the man, tell them roger that / I got b*tches shattering glasses trying to holla back / My pocket's fat, if not they getting there / And V.I.P., n*gga, you're never getting there," he boastfully rhymes. "See I hear part of your conversation with dollar signs / You're either talkin' money or just remained a mime."
"She got a fat a** and an amazing mind / that means great brain," K. Dot continues over the harsh, rattling instrumental with hi-hat.
"I'm Da Man" does not sound like what the "B*tch Don't Kill My Vibe" hitmaker has released in recent years, because his voice is pitched a bit higher than usual. Although it sounds like an old verse from a few years ago that is surfacing now, the new song could be featured in his highly anticipated major-label sophomore studio album, as the website's hashtags "#leaked," "#soon," and "#TDE" suggest that it is upcoming.
In fact, the leaked aggressive track sounds nothing like up-tempo, funky "i," which sampled The Isley Brothers' '70's soul classic "That Lady." The lighthearted, self-love preaching song, which is about Lamar's experience growing up in his corrupted city that is notorious for crime and gang violence, actually broke the record debuting at No. 9 on the Billboard+Twitter Trending 140 charts - which makes it the second highest to debut.
