Minecraft for PS4 & Xbox One Release, Gameplay, Mods & Mojang: Next-Gen Update Coming Soon?
The much-anticipated next-gen "Minecraft" version was released last month in the shadow of the news that Mojang, half of the game's development team, was to be acquired by Microsoft in a $2.5 billion deal.
But the popular sandbox game was released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to typically good reviews, even if there were a few bugs to be fixed.
4J Studios, the other half of the "Minecraft" development team, tweeted Thursday that the company is working on an update for the next-generation consoles, according to a report from Total Xbox.
An update to fix bugs on the Xbox versions of the game is already being tested at Microsoft and will be released ahead of the full next-generation update.
"We're now working on an update for all Minecraft console editions to move up to the equivalent of Java 1.6.4 version. It may take some time!" 4J Studios tweeted.
The Java update, which has already been released on the PC, is known as the "horse update." It adds horses, donkeys, mules, skeleton horses, zombie horses and horse armor, plus new items like health boosts and regeneration.
There is no release date for either the Java update or the Xbox bug fix, but reports claim the bug fix should be released soon.
The bug update includes fixes for things like tile entities not being saved correctly in unloaded chunks; enabling hiding mashup-pack worlds from the saves list; and changing the "disable saving" setting so that it remains set for a specific amount of time.
Other corrections include fixing an issue the prevented glass blocks from rendering correctly if placed next to each other, fixing enchanted items that weren't quickly destroying blocks as quickly as expected and changing 3-D sound attenuation to have linear fall off with special cases for thunder, Enderdragon & Ghast sounds.
