Season 10 of "Criminal Minds" started off with a bang, and it's only going to get better throughout the next season!

Jennifer Love Hewitt was introduced in the first episode of the new season, entitled "X," as FBI agent Kate Callahan.

Hewitt was cast on the show in lieu of actress Jeanne Tripplehorn, who left the series in last season's shocking finale. Although Tripplehorn's character Alex Blake was one of the main characters on the show, Blake made a sudden exit after she was traumatized over Spencer Reid's gunshot injuries. As a result, she decided to quit her job on the FBI's elite Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU).

According to TV Guide, fans can look forward to learning more about Hewitt's character, which will come full circle after she becomes involved in a case with a plane crash that hits close to home.

"Although she'll fill in the blanks to at least one member of the BAU, he or she may not be the first person to find out," TV Guide reported.

In a teaser video for Wednesday's episode, which is titled "Burn," Garcia will face off with the man who tried to murder her and Reid. Ironically, she seems to be compelled to oblige to his request for her to witness his execution. However, her colleagues don't seem to support her decision.

According to CarterMatt.com, CBS issued a synopsis for "Burn," which states, "A series of abductions and murders in Seattle send the BAU seeking an UnSub who was abused in the past and is out for revenge. Meanwhile, Garcia heads to Texas to confront the man she shot while defending Reid and herself, as he waits on Death Row."

"Dexter" star C.S. Lee will also make a guest appearance in the episode,

Season 10 Episode 2 of "Criminal Minds," "Burn," will air on Wednesday, Oct. 8, on CBS.
