Looking to enjoy Comic Con in New York, the "largest pop culture event on the East Coast?" Chances are you'll have a smartphone with you, meaning you'll want to take advantage of this week's Tap That App Tuesday selection, the handy New York Comic Con (NYCC Mobile) app.

New York Comic Con kicks off Thursday, Oct. 9, and runs until Oct. 12. The event, widely considered one of the premier showcases for everything from T.V. shows to books, allows fans, zealous and casual alike, to interact with some of their favorite minds and actors.

The app is fairly simple and easy to use and complements the Comic Con experience nicely. Oh yeah, and it's free! Opening it up gives you a platform through which you can experience and learn more about Comic Con. For instance, the main menu allows you to get the most important highlights immediately, and there are guests, panels, and exhibitors to look through. This is probably the most useful portion of the app, as it can be hard to keep track of the hundreds of showcases on the floor at Comic Con. Scrolling through these lets you see the who's who of Comic Con, and assuming you're attending the show, where they are. All arranged in an easy-to-find manner.

There are social media options (the standard: Facebook, Twitter, email) available for sharing any of the information found on through the app. Comic Con fans have get there own private messaging system and there's even a social icon to access Comic Con's social media pages.

There's more too. The New York Comic Con Map features a show floor map and options to customize your schedule and to-do list. There's even an outlet to explore New York Super Week, which runs from Oct. 3-12 and the app lets you know what's going on around the city so you don't always have to be on Comic Con's floor to snag some fun

Of course, there's always the option to create a profile to take advantage of such features such as messaging and sharing to-do lists with friends. The app is available for download on both iOS and Android operating systems and those who do choose to use it can enter exclusive contests to win NYCC swag and, for those who didn't buy tickets already (or can't afford them), the chance to win 3-day tickets.
