'Super Smash Bros. 4' Character Leaks & Gameplay: Wii U Game Gets Confirmed November Launch Date
It took a long time, but gamers in North America will finally know the exact date when the highly-anticipated "Super Smash Bros." for Wii U game will be released. The date is Nov. 21. That date is the Friday before Black Friday.
Europe will follow with a release on Dec. 5 and those down under in Australia will see the game released on Dec. 6.
Pre-orders for "Smash Bros." for Wii U have already begun. Amazon is taking advantage of the news and is allowing their customers to pre-order the game, which is expected to have new characters in addition to the classic ones we are used to seeing.
Nintendo sure took a long time to announce the actual date that this game would be released. They announced that the game was going to be released way back in early 2013, but never gave a date.
The problem with giving gamers a vague release day is the fact that they cannot save up their money and plan for the purchase of the game or even pre-order it. Now that Nintendo gave a release date, gamers should be able to plan accordingly and snag this game right before the Thanksgiving Holiday in the United States.
The official sales numbers from the 3DS version of "Super Smash Bros." are also looking great. This is the portable system similar to the 1990s Game Boy. Nintendo says the game on that system has sold 2.8 million copies since its two releases back in September (Japan) and early October (America/Europe).
This could be exactly what Nintendo needs to create a true three-way competition with Sony and Microsoft. With Smash Bros. being so anticipated and Mario Kart 8's incredible sales figures, Nintendo will see a huge surge in sales in late November with this title. Could it put Nintendo above the two giants above them? It's too early to tell but it sure is about to get interesting.
What do you think of the new Smash Bros. game finally getting a release date?
