Although Robert Downey Jr. had first said that "Iron Man 4" was moving forward, he cleared up his comments while on "The Late Show With David Letterman."

"There's no plans for an 'Iron Man 4,'" Downey Jr. said.

But before that, he was on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," where he said that he was in the middle of negotiations. And though he eventually admitted to DeGeneres that the movie was moving forward, he had a completely different story for Letterman.

"There's no script for 'Iron Man 4,'" he said. "Just between us, no. But I'm going to do other stuff with Marvel. I'll still be involved."

The actor recently answered fan questions on Reddit.

Someone asked the actor what it was like with people associating him with Tony Stark.

"The first Iron Man was essentially wrapping the character around a cooler version of 'me,'" he said. "As we've gone along, I'm starting to wonder who's playing who, and I'm glad there are so many talented new people in the Marvel lineup. Ultimately, I'm real, and he's not. It's kind of important for me to remember that."

Downey Jr. also recently spoke about his ex-girlfriend, Sarah Jessica Parker.

While on "The Howard Stern Show," he said that he and Parker dated for seven years, and naturally he was heartbroken when their relationship ended.

He added that he would like to see her now that he's in New York City promoting his projects, but that he would first check in with Parker's husband, Matthew Broderick, before doing so.

"Well I'll ask his permission," he said. "I just want to check in for a few minutes. I love Matthew Broderick."

He was also asked if he's had any inappropriate thoughts about Parker, but Downey tried to be respectful. He said that he respects both Parker and Broderick very much.
