The Season 2 premiere of "Arrow" was intense to say the least. Oliver and Felicity shared a passionate kiss, Oliver struggled with his identity, Diggle dropped Team Arrow, and, in a surprising twist, Sara Lance's life came to a fatal end.

Naturally, the premiere left fans in shock and itching to know more, like who killed Sara.

According to the executive producer Marc Gugggenheim, Episode 2 of the new season will give viewers some of those answers.

During last weeks' season kickoff, Sara returned to Starling City just in time to help Team Arrow defeat Count Vertigo. However, after she and Laurel shared a heart-to-heart, she was shot by multiple arrows and fell to her death.

"We had this notion of starting the year off in the way that we typically end the year. It was part and parcel of our plan for the year," Gugggenheim told The Hollywood Reporter.

He added that it was not an easy decision to kill Caity Lotz's character Sara off the show.

"Every time we kill off a character on the show, it's always incredibly hard. We're not Game of Thrones. We're not Sons of Anarchy. It's really, really, really difficult," Guggenheim admitted, adding that her death will "affect all of the characters."

Fortunately, the EP hinted that fans will see Sara again in upcoming flashback scenes, which will help lay out her backstory.

"To be honest, we have stories that involve Caity Lotz," he said. "One of the beautiful parts of the show is we do flashbacks. We still want to tell the story of what happened when Sara washed up on the shores of Lian Yu after the sinking of the Amazo and how she met Nyssa and how she joined the League of Assassins. There is still a lot of story left to be told with Sara."

The aftermath of Sara's death will be the focus of the next episode, which is titled "Sara," while Laurel will be at the center of it.

Guggenheim warned that "it's probably our most emotionally gut-wrenching episode -- as it needs to be, as it should be -- because this character's death affects all of the characters on the show." He went on to describe the second episode as "it's kind of brutal."

He continued, listing the unanswered questions from the first episode.

"What should be done with Sara's body? Whom do they tell? Do they tell Lance, for example, that his daughter died a second time?" Guggenheim asked. "There's emotional repercussions for everybody, but it definitely has repercussions for Oliver and Felicity, for Felicity and Ray Palmer, and obviously for Laurel." The team will also home in on a suspect for Sara's killing.

Sentimental viewers may want to keep a tissue box nearby during the episode, says Guggenheim.

"It's a hard episode to watch. If you're prone to tears or capable of crying during a TV show, you'll probably be crying on this one," he teased.

The EP also previewed that "Oliver and Felicity have a very emotional scene together in episode two," Guggenheim said. "This is not the last time we'll hear the words 'I love you' in connection to Oliver and Felicity. But I never want to turn to the back of the book and read to everyone the last page because part of the fun, or the agony, of watching these two people is the fact they're together, they're apart, they're together, they're apart."

Oliver and Felicity's story is "something we'll be dealing with over the course of the season," Guggenheim said. "The end of that hospital scene didn't take Oliver and Felicity and put them back in a box. The repercussions of that scene and that storyline is going to follow them over the course of season three. It's not over. We didn't just hit pause or reset on their relationship. This is a development in an ongoing relationship for them."

Speaking of Felicity, E! News also previewed that she will go on an awkward double date during the highly anticipated "Arrow" and "The Flash" crossover.

According to E!, Barry and Felicity will double date with Iris and Detective Eddie.

"I can tease that there's going to be a double-date happening with Felicity when she comes over to Central City [in episode 4 of 'The Flash']," said Rick Cosnett, who plays Detective Eddie. "That interaction is quite hilarious. That's the great thing about 'The Flash,' that it does have very comedic elements to it. We keep it light while still keeping it epic and real and dark. So that's going to be a great episode to see Felicity and how we all interact with her."

"Arrow" Season 3 Episode 2, "Sara," airs on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
