'The Voice' Season 8 Judges, Cast, and News: Christina Aguilera Set to Return to Show
On Tuesday, NBC announced its decision to bring back original "The Voice" coach Christina Aguilera to the hit show's coaching panel, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Aguilera will return to the eighth season of "The Voice," set to begin early next year. She will replace current female coach Gwen Stefani--who is currently a first time coach on the show--and will join regulars Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and seventh season newcomer, Pharrell on Season 8, EW reports.
"We are excited to welcome Christina back to her red chair and can't wait to see how she mixes things up among Adam, Blake and Pharrell, in what will be an incredibly competitive competition," said Paul Telegdy, NBC Entertainment's president of alternative and late night programming, in a statement.
Prior to her "Voice" return, the "Say Something" singer took some time off of the show after season 5 and went on to be engaged to long-time beau,Matt Rutler, and eventually give birth to the couple's daughter, Summer Rain Rutler, back in August, Billboard reports.
At the time of her daughter's birth Aguilera took to Twitter to announce the birthday news.

Though Aguilera has yet to speak on her return to "The Voice," her successor Gwen Stefani revealed in a past Access Hollywood interview that Aguilera offered her some words of advice and helped build up her confidence in preparation for Stefani's debut as a coach on "The Voice's" seventh season.
"She [Christina] wrote me this really sweet note right when it all was going down. ... And she was like, 'You're gonna love it, you're gonna be fine,'" Stefani told Access Hollywood.
Aguilera's last appearance as a coach on "The Voice" was on season 5 with her co-coaches, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Cee-lo Greene who quit earlier this year following his legal troubles and controversial tweets on rape that have since been deleted, Billboard reports.
