The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 Trailer, Cast & Spoilers: New Footage Shows Destruction, Injured Peeta
A week after releasing a new trailer to "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1," Lionsgate has released another new trailer that reveals more information from the film.
The company is releasing short 40-second teasers to obtain buzz and raise anticipation for the film.
The new trailer shows Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) after he is taken by President Snow (Donald Sutherland). In the trailer, he is shown on TV from the Capitol to keep Panem's residents in line. He tells the citizens, "Everyone needs to lay down their weapons immediately." During that clip, he appears healthy but later is shown beaten and with a large bruise blooming over his eye.
Meanwhile, in other shots of the trailer, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) is shown being pulled in different directions. First she discovers that Peeta's alive, and then she is being pressured by Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth). In the trailer, Gale states, "Everyone has a choice, Katniss, and I'd rather die than say what he just said. When you love somebody, you don't leave them behind,"
There are also a couple of scenes in which Katniss leads the rebellion, and in one scene, she is directly asked if she will fight alongside them. Katniss replies in the scene that she will lead them. The trailer also shows a moment with her sister, which looks like the moment when Katniss leaves her sister to search for Peeta.
There are some shots from the previous trailer, which showed Katniss taking in the destruction of her home (District 12). There were also some shots of Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman) with President Coin (Julianne Moore) and the trailer also shows a number of action sequences featuring Katniss fighting alongside Gale and destroying yet another district.
The new film is directed by Francis Lawrence, and it is the third installment in the multi-million dollar franchise. The new film tells the story of Lawrence's iconic Katniss Everdeen, who is in District 13 after she shatters the games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss decides to fight to save Peeta and a nation moved by her courage.
The movie is based on the third and final book by Suzanne Collins, which has been split into two films. The science fiction picture is likely to become the highest-grossing film this year and is likely to cross the $400 million threshold as the first two installments did domestically. "The Hunger Games" was released in 2010 and went on to make $691 million worldwide. Meanwhile, the second installment "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" went on to make $864 million worldwide. Both films obtained rave reviews, and the films were viewed by audiences beyond the book's fan base.
The third installment was written by Danny Strong and Peter Craig and also stars Elizabeth Banks, Woody Harrelson, Toby Jones, Stanley Tucci, Jeffrey Wright, Jena Malone and Sam Claflin.
"The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1" will be released on Nov. 21 with the second part of the film coming out Nov. 20, 2015. The new trailer can be seen below:
