Bryan Singer Having Child With Friend Actress Michelle Clunie
Film director Bryan Singer has confirmed, though his representative, that he is expecting a child with a best friend, the actress Michelle Clunie.
Although some of the details remain unclear, both have confirmed the child will be born early next year.
Singer, 49, announced he and Clunie, 44, are pregnant, according to E! News, and are expecting their child in early 2015.
"I can confirm that Michelle Clunie and Bryan Singer are happily expecting a baby together in early 2015," Singer's rep Simon Halls told E! News. "Best friends for 25 years, mother and father are both very excited about the upcoming birth and look forward to co-parenting the child together. The pair have been planning this baby for years and have been trying for the last two."
However, Clunie’s representative did not initially confirm she was expecting Singer’s child, telling Buzzfeed:
“Michelle and Bryan have been close friends for decades — that fact, combined with the proximity of their homes — is hardly grounds to report that she is now also his surrogate. It’s just bad journalism.”
Yet, Clunie then confirmed reports that she is carrying Singer’s child on Twitter.
Clunie is believed to be seven months pregnant, which would make an early 2015 birth unlikely, unless it happens in early January.
Nonetheless, Singer or Clunie have not provided a reason for their decision to have a child, but it was reported earlier this year that Singer bought a new home for Clunie in West Hollywood, close to Singer’s home, reports BuzzFeed. The two friends appear to be happy with their decision.
Singer's rep said in a statement, according to the Hollywood Reporter, "The pair have been planning this baby for years and have been trying for the last two."
Singer was accused of sexually assaulting Michael Egan, among others, earlier this year, but all these charges were dropped.
Singer is the director of “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and has been part of “Superman Returns,” “Apt Pupil” and “Jack the Giant Slayer.” Clunie is most famous for her role as Melanie in “Queer as Folk.”
