'Minecraft' for PS4 & Xbox One Release, Price, Gameplay, Mods: Reviews Remain Positive; Trailer Available
"Minecraft" has been around for quite sometime and despite its low-grade graphics it has gained a cult-like following. Now, the building blocks game will be released for next-generation systems.
Come Nov. 18, "Minecraft" will appear on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in stores. Normally a PC game, console gamers will soon get their chance to play the popular game. If gamers do not wish to wait until then, they can download the game from the PlayStation Store or the Xbox Play store.
The Xbox One version will get worlds 36 times bigger than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions.
Reviews are already coming in and they are pretty good.
One Amazon reviewer had this to say about the next-gen version of "Minecraft":
"Minecraft is truly one of the greatest video games of all time. Minecraft is a game with endless possibilities, every single block can be taken/mined and be used to make any your imagination can handle! The game has no plot whatsoever, but that is one of its beauties."
Metacritic.com, a website that aims to compile all reviews of video games into a simple score rates "Minecraft" as an 88 (out of 100) for the PlayStation 4 version and an 87 for the Xbox One.
Although there is a slight amount of fantasy violence, "Minecraft" is geared towards any age. Young people love creating cities and buildings and so do their elders.
One student spent two years creating a realistic model of New York that included the World Trade Center. He called his city "Titan City" and said it was "inspired" by New York and not an exact copy of it.
