Microsoft's latest tablets have been released, and reportedly the Surface Pro 3 is selling at a much faster pace than the Surface Pro 2, according to PC World. But what is the difference between Surface Pro 2 and Surface Pro 3, and which one will be the better buy?

The Surface Pro 2 is smaller, with a screen that is 10.6 inches in size. Display is at 1920 x 1080 pixels, with a fourth generation Intel Core i5 processor and 720P HD cameras. Surface Pro 2 comes in four internal memory variants: 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. Available for the 64 GB and 128 GB variants is 4 GB RAM, and 8 GB for the other two variants.

On the other hand, Surface Pro 3's screen size is 12 inches with display resolution coming in at 2160 x 1440 pixels. This larger size tablet comes in five versions:

  • Intel Core-i3 (64 GB internal memory)
  • Intel Core-i5 (128 GB and 256 GB internal memory)
  • Intel Core-i7 (256 GB and 512 GB internal memory)

All versions have 2 GB RAM with the rear camera at 5MP and the front camera at 3.5MP.

The Surface Pro 3 is a tablet that can replace the PC. Its 12-inch screen allows 10-finger multi-touch capability and its 3:2 aspect ratio is able to give new meaning to high quality resolution and touch features. It does look quite bulky and does not have an SD card slot, which disappointed some users.

There are still software bugs that come up despite the release of the latest patch and the type cover is sold separately.

Surface Pro 2 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB variants sell for $899, $999, $1,299 and $1,799 respectively.

On the other hand, Surface Pro 3 sells based on the processor. The 64 GB with Core i3 processor goes for $799, while the 128 GB with Core i5 sells for $999. The 256 GB with Core i5 goes for $1,299 and the 256 GB with Core i7 sells for $1,549. The one with Core i7 and 512 GB internal memory goes for $1,949.
