Diego Maradona Video: Soccer Star Denies Hitting Ex-Girlfriend After Clip Surfaces
Former soccer player Diego Maradona is once again involved in controversy.
A video recently surfaced of Maradona allegedly hitting his ex-girlfriend, Rocio Oliva, 24. Maradona is seen getting up from a couch and he walks toward her. She is holding her phone and recording the incident. She tells him to stop hitting her, and then the video cuts off.
The Argentine athlete has come out to deny that he hit Oliva.
"Yes, I threw her phone, but I swear that I never lifted a hand to a woman," he said. "The incident starts and ends there. I do take responsibility for having thrown her phone, but there is nothing more. The situation didn't go past that and it didn't intensify."
He also confirms that he is in the video, which is difficult to see. But Oliva does call him "Diego" in the video.
Oliva has spoken out against Maradona, alleging that alcohol made him violent.
She explained that he once kicked a door down and she was frightened. She was in a house full of people, but no one helped her. She ended up calling the cops, but Maradona told them that everything was fine and that he and Oliva were just arguing.
Oliva explained that she stayed inside the home because she didn't think anyone was going to help her.
"Everyone knew that Diego hit me," she said. "The revelation of his previous girlfriend shook Maradona's universe. His children, his wife, his other ex all denied it."
She also said that Maradona would break her cell phones and that she had to get new ones a few times.
Speaking to her mom would also upset Maradona. He would ask her what they were talking about, and she said she had to be wary of everything she did.
