Farmingdale, New York Man Beheads Woman, Drags Head and Body to Street Before Committing Suicide via Long Island Rail Road Train
A man beheaded a woman in her Long Island, New York apartment before dragging her head and body out onto the street, reports Fox News.
Witnesses told the New York Post they watched the man drag the woman's body and head out to the street. He kicked her head 20 feet or so before walking to nearby railroad tracks where he jumped in front of a Long Island Rail Road commuter train about 25 minutes later.
Nassau County Police report that MTA police discovered his body about half a mile away from the apartment building.
The train from Penn Station headed to Ronkonkoma struck and killed a person around 8:15 p.m., police said.
According to authorities, the victim appeared to be in her 60s, while the killer's age was around 30. The motive for the murder suicide or their relationship remains unknown.
On the street in front of the apartment building, witnesses described a gruesome scene first thought to be a Halloween prank. Witnesses realized the body was real after trying to lift it.
"There was blood all over the floor," neighbor Nick Gordon told the Post. "You can see smears going down the stairs ... as if somebody were pulling a body."
Police shut down the Ronkonkoma Branch of the Long Island Rail Road and cordoned off several blocks around a building at 130 Secatogue Ave. in Farmingdale Tuesday evening during the investigation, officials told CBS 2.
White sheets covered the woman's body as police officers, detectives and emergency personnel surrounded the building.
Police confirmed both victims were from Farmingdale.
While the man's motive is unknown, police did not initially cite terrorism, though the incident is similar to last month's gruesome attack in Moore, Oklahoma, where an ex-con and recent Islam convert beheaded a former food processing plant co-worker.
