Nickelodeon Halo Awards 2014 Date and Winners: Fifth Harmony to Perform at Nick Cannon-Hosted Ceremony for Inspiring Teens
Girl group Fifth Harmony will be performing at Nickelodeon's HALO Awards.
The awards will take place on Sunday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m., and the five-member group will participate in the sixth annual event, notes The Hollywood Reporter.
Other performers include Nick Jonas, Jessie J, Meghan Trainor, Echosmith and The Vamps. There will also be special appearances from Zendaya, Carlos Pena Vega and Benjamin Flores.
The event is being hosted by Nickelodeon alum Nick Cannon. It will take place at New York's Pier 36 and air on TeenNick, Nicktoon and other Nickelodeon networks. For the first time, the show will also be streamed on Nick.com, Nick Radio and the Nick App.
The HALO Awards celebrate those who give back to their communities. According to Nickelodeon.com, the event is "celebrating the amazing work of some of the most inspiring teens, but we're flipping the script and bringing in Hollywood's biggest stars to honor them." The people who are nominated all receive prize money to continue working on their efforts. The show is also supposed to prove that it's not just adults who make a change.
The five teenagers being honored this year are 15-year-old Lulu Cerone, 18-year-old Yash Gupta, 16-year-old Cassandra Lin, 16-year-old Nicholas Lowinger and 14-year-old Alanna Wall.
Cannon recently surprised the five nominees with a performance by Jessie J. Each also received $10,000 for their education, notes Global Grind.
"We're taking over New York City with the hottest music performers and the most awe-inspiring kids for one huge fun night at this year's Nickelodeon HALO Awards," Cannon said in a statement. "The HALO Awards embodies the altruistic spirit of the holidays with its positive message and I can't wait to celebrate the terrific work of these young heroes."
