A young man who holds an after-school job as a Target employee has quickly become an online celebrity, reports Yahoo Tech. Virtually overnight, he has amassed hundreds of thousands of Twitter followers and created a new genre of parody Twitter accounts.

Who Is Alex From Target?

It all started with a cell phone picture shared on social media. Twitter user @auscalum-who appears to be a young woman if the profile picture is accurate-took a picture of the young, rather hunky Target employee on Sunday, November 2 at 12:05 p.m. and tweeted it to her 14.8K followers.

Alex is an attractive all-American kid. He attends school. He's a chain store worker. According to his Twitter account @acl163, he enjoys soccer and lives in Texas.

You can also find him on Facebook and Tumblr. He's even the title character in a fan created teenage romance.

Target is embracing the teen's surprising, newfound fame.

"Imagine our surprise yesterday when one of our Target team members managed to flood the Internet with images of red and khaki without even trying," Molly Snyder, a Target spokeswoman, wrote in an email to Huffington Post. "We are proud to have a great team, including #AlexFromTarget."

Out of respect for Alex's privacy, Snyder said Target isn't revealing the location of where he works or making him available for interviews.

Why Is Alex From Target So Famous?

After @auscalum tweeted his photo on Sunday, it immediately grabbed the eye of admirers who retweeted his image nearly 1,700 times and favorite it 2,800 times as of Monday morning. The hashtag #AlexFromTarget was created and behold-the young man began trending on Twitter.

What followed was the hunt for more information about Alex. His Twitter account gained nearly 250,000 followers overnight. He has been posting photos of himself with stoked fans.
