"Once Upon a Time" isn't quite done unveiling iconic characters from fairy tales and animated films, further obscuring its ever-unfolding storyline.

So far this season, the wicked Snow Queen (Elizabeth Mitchell) has exposed her chilly nature, the no-nonsense Bo Peep (Robin Weigert) has proven that she likes to be in control and the entire cast of "Frozen" has been incorporated into the fourth season of the series. The evil Maleficent (Kristin Bauer van Straten) is expected to return to Storybrooke and "Dracula" alum Victoria Smurfit has been cast to play the incomparable Cruella de Vil, who is best known for her hatred of Dalmatians and her black and white mane.

"Once Upon a Time" has already introduced "101 Dalmatians'" character Pongo, who's owned by Archie/Jiminy Cricket, but appears to be an ordinary non-communicative dog. And, it's speculated that Cruella will be hunter of magical creatures during her time on "Once Upon a Time," instead of a skinner of dogs. In which case, werewolf Red Riding Hood should watch her back.

The fourth season of ABC's "Once Upon a Time" has had plenty of surprises, but the second half of the series, when Cruella will likely appear, may hold the biggest surprises yet. All that's been shared is that she'll appear after the "Frozen" arc is complete. Details of the role are being kept under lock and key, and the public wasn't even supposed to know who that Cruella would appear.

E! Online reported that Smurfit spilled the beans, tweeting, "Super excited about playing Cruella for such an iconic show as @OnceABC." The Ireland-born star has also appeared on "Rush" and "The Mentalist" then quickly deleted the tweet.

"Once Upon a Time" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. The seventh episode of the season, "The Snow Queen," will air Sunday, Nov. 9, at 8:00 p.m. on ABC.
