'La Malquerida' Cast & News: Victoria Ruffo Says She's the Main Character of Telenovela
In a telenovela about a mother and daughter who fall in love with the same man, it is difficult to say who has the most unfortunate luck.
But according to Victoria Ruffo, who plays the mother on "La Malquerida," her character is the one worthy of the titular phrase, and it's not just because of what her character goes through.
Ruffo is La Malquerida because she is the star of the show.
"There's agreements and arrangements when one starts a novela, and you have to respect them. That's all," she said.
Ariadne Diaz, who plays Ruffo's daughter, has a large storyline as well, but as Diaz previously said, Ruffo was the first one to be cast.
Ruffo added that she was very happy about how well the show has been received. She called it one of her more challenging and controversial roles.
She also opened up about Diaz, who it was rumored that she was feuding with. But Ruffo said that sometimes she just "got along better with one person or another."
For Diaz, working with Ruffo was a dream.
"The truth is that many years before I knew I wanted to be an actress, I saw her on the television," she said. "So imagine, the day they told me I was going to be in this novela and all of sudden I'm face to face with her on set was an incredible thing."
The show is nearing its end in Mexico, and it has been revealed that there will be three endings.
On Nov. 9, the finale will air in Mexico, and immediately afterward the alternate endings will be online to view. Audiences will be able to vote on which ending is the best one.
Televisa will be teaming up with TVyNovelas for the streaming of the alternate episodes.
