Diddy Revolt TV Deal: 24-Hour Music Network Debuts Oct. 21
This is one of Diddy's biggest entrepreneurial ventures to date. His 24-hour multi-platform multi-genre music network Revolt TV is less than three weeks away from launching, as the countdown ticks away on the company's website.
Claiming itself as "#1 name in music," the new channel will launch with all-music programming such as interviews, music videos and news on October 21 in major select cities including New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. It will be available through Comcast and Time Warner Cable.
With its purpose of providing a 24-hour continuous stream of interviews, music videos, original programming, performances and news across a vast array of music genres, Revolt TV seems to be directed towards the millennial generation, bringing a profusion of content in music, art, culture, and news.
Diddy is frequently being asked what type of music his Revolt TV will play, and he pretty much answers - everything.
"The best of rock, the best of EDM, the best of hip hop - the future of music," Diddy says. "We may play some country music if it's funky enough. Ain't no closed-mindedness with music. Revolt is a multi-genre, multi-platform music network. We gon' play that new shit. The stuff that other people are afraid to play. If you like good music, you finally have a home."
Competition with MTV is very much expected. Therefore, Revolt TV already has been recruiting its executives. One of them is former vice president of MTV News, Whitney-Gayle Benta. She is now the senior vice president of music & talent at Revolt TV. Also, the channel has selected a number of top entertainment journalists for the project, Amrit Singh, formerly of Streogum, being one of them.
