The big story this weekend was the arrival of Sting, who made his historic debut in a WWE ring during the main event of Sunday's Survivor Series, helping Dolph Ziggler defeat Seth Rollins to cost Triple H and Stephanie McMahon control of the company.

PWInsider.com reports that Sting, one of the biggest stars of the defunct wrestling giant WCW, was used in the main event to push the idea that "anything can happen" on the WWE Network, hoping it will help drive up subscription sales since the event was viewed for free for new subscribers and to promote the "WWE 2K15" video game. The decision to use Sting was not made until Thursday, with the original plan being for "The Icon" to do a cameo earlier after the Divas Survivor Series Elimination Tag Team bout. The idea to use Sting in the main event did not come about until the last minute, with Randy Orton originally scheduled to do the run-in that would cost the Triple H control of the company.

Sting is a six-time World Championship Wrestling (WCW) world champion, held the TNA Wrestling championship four times and was the company's first inductee into the TNA Hall of Fame before signing with a promotional deal with the WWE early in 2014. Speculation of Sting's ring debut had been running rampant for months, especially after his expressing a desire to battle The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31. Sting is rumored to be competing in the Royal Rumble, probably against Triple H as a primer for fans not familiar with him, to help set up his bout against The Undertaker next year. Sting is also rumored to be headlining the 2015 WWE Hall of Fame class, since the company owns WCW's library, along with Randy "Macho Man" Savage.

As far as Orton, "The Apex Predator" is expected to return in the coming weeks. Orton was written out of so that he could do his parts for "The Condemned 2" movie and will likely continue his feud with Rollins, who Curb Stomped Orton onto the announcers table and the steel steps to give "The Viper" an opportunity to work on the film. Orton may battle Rollins in a Table, Ladders & Chairs match at TLC, which would make Rollins the second former Shield member to battle in such a bout. Michael Cole announced during Sunday's Survivor Series broadcast that Dean Ambrose would face Bray Wyatt in a Tables, Ladders & Chairs match at TLC.

While Sheamus may be out of action after suffering an injury just prior to Survivor Series, Wade Barrett is returning soon to the roster. Barrett has been out of action due to a shoulder surgery but he is expect to return within four to six weeks. Barrett has been able to work out in the gym but will head to the WWE Performance Center to shed some ring rust once he gets clearance from doctors.

In other news, TNA Wrestling announced that they have locked down a television deal and will no longer partner up with Spike TV. TNA will now air TNA Impact on Discovery's Destination America. TNA had negotiated with Spike TV, Fox and the Country Music Television (CMT), with TNA President Dixie Carter looking for a deal that went beyond two hours of broadcasting the Impact Wrestling show. Josh Mathews, who recently left the WWE, will handle revamping the TNA website and online presence.

"Together we will create an experience that takes our fans on a new journey that will push the envelope of technology, including where we take our cameras, going deeper into our superstars' lives and showing the reality of what it takes to create a weekly professional wrestling show, all while showcasing the very best male and female athletes in the world," said Carter in a press release.

TNA will now focus on talent acquisition, with rumor that El Patron Alberto may be joining the company next year. El Patron Alberto teased to Bill Apter that, with things settled between him and the WWE, he will be working with two North American companies in 2015, which has led to speculation El Patron may compete with both Lucha Underground, airing on Robert Rodriguez's El Rey Network, and with TNA Wrestling.

"I'm about to sign with two different companies with TV deals and everything but it's not going to be until January," said El Patron to Bill Apter.

Jeff Jarrett, who founded TNA Wrestling, has expressed positive thoughts for his former company, from which he parted ways in 2013, saying that he was happy they signed a new television deal because it is, "what's best for media." Jarrett's new venture, Global Force Wrestling (GWF), will launch on Jan. 4 airing New Japan Pro Wrestling's (NJPW) WrestleKingdom 9 to American audiences.

Jim Ross will do commentary for the English broadcast of WrestleKingdom 9, which will feature talent from NJPW such as the Bullet Club and ROH Tag Team Champions / IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team ReDRagon. ROH has stipulations in their full-time contracted employees that they cannot make appearances with other organizations but Jarrett has been in talks with ROH officials on details, including being able to advertise the WrestleKingdom 9 English broadcast on their television programs.
