Super Smash Bros Wii U fell short in sales Black Friday weekend, Nov. 21-23, and just missed the top ten chart, landing 13th. There reportedly were stock shortages, and a delayed order date of Dec. 19 by Amazon U.K. indicates additional stock of the Wii U's GameCube Controller Adapter is pending.

Super Smash Bros Wii U fell short in sales Black Friday weekend and missed out on the top ten chart, landing at 13th.During the three-day period, Nov. 21-23, Super Smash Bros. was reported, however, to be the fastest-selling Wii U game of all-time in the U.S.

GameSpot reports that the game sold 490,000 combined physical and digital units on Black Friday weekend, but the game still may be no match for its predecessor, Mario Kart.

Though, according to Nintendo, neither game has come close to success of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which sold more than 12 million copies worldwide from 2008 to date -- a sum far superior than the presentglobal Wii U sales, which moved 7.29 million units ahead of the console's two-year anniversary according to Gampespot.

NintendoLife reports that a crosscheck of major retailer websites across the U.S. -- GameStop, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Target, Toys "R" Us -- suggests the console is sold out and all at once, "either as a standalone device, or in the $99.99 bundle with the game." Inflated prices and limited supply are to blame for therapid sellout.

Tensions rose in the gamer community shortly after EB Games reported additional stock wasn't imminent. This resulted in anxiety for many who were unable to purchase a unit or preorder a console. However,eBay listed a roster of those units ranging from $70-$100.

Super Smash Bros Wii U has received critical acclaim from gamers and critics alike and is boasting a larger fan base for a franchise, despite a six-year gap between the last Super Smash Bros. edition.

Though it has earned a Metacritic rating score of 92, the game is causing an "Error code 160-0103" to appear at random for Wii U owners after playing "For Glory" mode, according to NintendoLife.
