'Evolve' Video Game for Xbox One, PS4 & PC Release Date and News: New Trailer Shows More Alien Monsters [Watch]
A new violent game is headed to the Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC, and no, it's not a new not Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto game. Instead, Evolve is a hunter-alien game that features armored dragons, monsters and other goblins against a group of hunters heavily armed with weapons and special abilities.
The latest trailer, released by 2KGames on Tuesday shows how intense this game will be. It is rated M for mature because of blood, strong language and violence. Based on the trailer, the game looks like a Turok the Dinosaur Hunter for Nintendo 64 but with today's graphics and much more intense.
In Evolve, hunters won't be on Earth. Instead they will be placed on the planet Shear which is quite far from Earth, both in time and in distance. Of course, the aliens don't like that humans have landed on their planet and established colonies. In typical alien fashion they start attacking.
The humans are slaughtered pretty quickly. Enter a retired "planet tamer" (apparently that's a job nowadays) named William Cabot. Cabot's job is to get the remaining survivors off planet Shear safely.
Cabot can't do it himself though. He has help from several different categories of hunters:
- Assault
- Trappers
- Support Members (Cabot is one of them)
- Medics
Cabot and his assistants will battle several different kinds of monsters/aliens in this evacuation of Shear effort:
- Goliath
- Kraken
- Wraith
The game looks a little like Halo, but more of a survivor-type game. Gamers will seemingly enjoy tons of weapons, but they will also have to defeat some big beasts and watch out for fire-breathing monsters as well.
It's too early to review this game (not even Metacritic has placed a review yet), but if the trailer proves to be a realistic depiction of gameplay, this game could be a big hit for next-gen systems.
According to the trailer's YouTube page, "Evolve" will be available on Feb. 10, 2015.
