Real Housewives of Orange County Cast News: Star Vicki Gunvalson Says Bravo Threatened to Demote Her
During a recent interview with Us Weekly, "The Real Housewives of Orange County" star, Vicki Gunvalson revealed that she was given an ultimatum by Bravo who forced her to continue filming with her boyfriend, Brooks Ayers or else the producers would demote her.
Gunvalson explained that she was hesitant and "frightened" to continue filming with Ayers following the backlash she received after his on-screen argument with her daughter, Briana Culberson.
However, when Bravo allegedly threatened to demote her housewife status, Gunvalson chose to continue filming with Ayers.
"[Bravo] basically put the gauntlet down and said, 'If you don't film with Brooks, then we are reducing your role.' And I was like, 'Oh no! You did not just say that!'" she said.
In addition to Bravo's cutthroat ultimatum, Gunvalson also named Ayers' health issues as another reason for the couple's reconciliation.
Us Weekly reports that Ayers is currently battling stage 3 cancer.
"[Cancer] either will tear you apart as a couple or bring you together. And with us, without a doubt, it's brought us together," Ayers explained. "So, yes, we are exclusive, we are dating, we are together," Gunvalson confirmed. "It's official."
Despite her hardships with Bravo, she revealed that she will continue starring in the "RHOC" series until she is in "a walker with my botox and my false eyelashes. I mean, at the end of the day, they're going to have to kill me off!"
Gunvalson isn't the only housewife that has had issues with Bravo. Back in October, "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Porsha Williams revealed that she was "blindsided" by her demotion on "RHOA."
"After a long season of filming, and giving my all, I was blindsided by the announcement from the network that I was demoted from 'Housewife Status,' but would remain on the show in a 'Friend' capacity," Williams told Us Weekly back in October. "Unfortunately, I can only be PORSHA, and portraying anything else would not be genuine nor honest."
"RHOA" producer, Andy Cohen later revealed on an online segment of "Ask Andy" that Williams was demoted due to her uninteresting storyline this season.
