Ludacris Hot New Music, Songs & Lyrics 2014: Atlanta Rapper Talks 'Fast and The Furious,' Gossip in 'In My Life' featuring John Legend [Listen]
After teasing with a series of preview clips on Instagram earlier this week, Ludacris has finally released the full second single "In My Life," featuring John Legend, off his upcoming EP "Burning Bridges."
The veteran emcee starts off the introspective track by boasting about his wealth.
"I used to care so much what people thought about me, now I really could give a f*ck / Not when I own over $15 million in real estate and bought all of the 'Fast and Furious' trucks," he raps. "See everyday I put in work and my salary grows, so excuse me I'm not caught up in reality shows."
Also, Luda does not hesitate to call out all the gossipers out there.
"See, some of these bloggers don't even believe their own lies / Turn a computer screen into a mirror, look at your own lies," he continues to spit over the saxophone-heavy, jazzy instrumentals.
The "Green Light" crooner, who previously collaborated with the Atlanta-raised rapper on 2012's "Tonight (Best You Ever Had)," then offers his deep, raspy vocals on the soulful hook.
"Oh, living in the spotlight, oh if it is too hot, too hot tonight / I think I'm gonna take fly, I'mma be alright," Legend sings.
Ludacris' first-ever EP "Burning Bridges" will be available for free via Google Play on Dec. 16, while his forthcoming eighth studio album "Ludaversal" is set for a release on March 31 next year.
"This will be my most personal album to date, in terms of talking about a lot of things that have gone on in my life and just really diving into who Chris Bridges is as a person," he told Billboard in August. "So that's what 'Ludaversal' is all about, it's, 'Welcome to my world, this is where I live, this is what I go through on a day to day basis.'"
